About AquaFit Sports
A Lifetime in the Water. Nearly Two Decades Helping Others Discover Its Potential.
For most people, water is a place to swim, relax, or cool off. For Stuart “Stu” Davidson, it became a lifelong pursuit — and the foundation for a private aquatic performance and recovery practice built around movement, trust, and real-world experience.
It Started Long Before AquaFit Sports
Long before AquaFit Sports was founded in 2008, water was already shaping Stu’s life. Growing up in Montreal, he was drawn to water from an early age — swimming, canoeing, rowing, water skiing, exploring lakes, and looking forward to winter trips to Florida.
Competitive swimming taught discipline, but it also revealed the limits of repetitive training. Water was never just a lane, a pool, or a sport. It was an environment — one that offered freedom, challenge, play, recovery, and possibilities for movement that land could not provide.
The Recovery That Changed Everything
At eighteen, a serious car accident introduced Stu to rehabilitation, physical therapy, and the deeper questions behind movement. Why did certain exercises help? Why did some approaches work better than others? How could movement become part of the healing process?
Those questions led him into yoga in the early 1980s, long before it became mainstream, and later into martial arts, movement exploration, rehabilitation principles, and aquatic training.
From Private Pool Sessions to a Specialized Aquatic Practice
Stu began developing the idea for AquaFit Sports in 2007 and formally registered the business in 2008. The original concept was simple: bring purposeful aquatic training directly to the client instead of asking them to travel to a facility.
What began primarily as aquatic fitness quickly evolved. Clients arrived through referrals with different bodies, different goals, and different challenges — mobility limitations, joint replacements, chronic pain, athletic goals, recovery needs, and a desire for a smarter way to train.
AquaFit Sports grew one client, one pool, and one success story at a time.
Hundreds of Clients. Hundreds of Pools. No Two Alike.
Over the years, Stu has trained clients in private residences, luxury waterfront condominiums, country clubs, resort properties, community pools, open-water settings, and lagoon-style environments. Every client was different. Every pool taught something. Every environment required adaptation.

Years of helping others recover, strengthen, and rebuild taught Stu valuable lessons. Then life offered the opportunity to learn those lessons again firsthand.
Cardiac challenges, cervical spine surgery, clavicle repair, and quadriceps tendon repair made recovery personal. The pool once again became a place to heal, adapt, rebuild, and move forward.
Beyond Fitness. Beyond Therapy.
Many people think of water as swimming, water aerobics, or rehabilitation. AquaFit Sports uses water more broadly — as an environment for fitness, recovery, mobility, performance, and confidence.
Credentials That Support the Experience
Certifications are part of the foundation, but the AquaFit Sports difference comes from applying that education through years of hands-on work in real aquatic environments.
Train Harder on Land. Recover Stronger in Water.
AquaFit Sports was built on a simple belief: water can help people move better, feel stronger, recover with purpose, and continue doing the things they love.
Whether your goals involve fitness, recovery, mobility, performance, or longevity, the journey begins with understanding what is possible in the water.
